The Components of Board GovernanceMany boards are dedicated and skilled in their work and provide clear and consistent leadership to their organization. Others, however, are not effective. Virtually all boards raise concerns at some time that their job is not clear, and their work is difficult and confusing. In addition, with diminishing resources, Boards are facing the challenge of restructuring and working towards self-sustainability.
To ensure that the internal culture of the board is healthy and productive an effective board must ensure its own renewal and development. The use of effective committees can assist boards in supporting organizational programs, services, or policies.
